NUTRITION & HEALTHY AGING
Can a different diet change your biological age?
A small trial found changes in aging-related biomarkers. What that tells us—and what it leaves unanswered.

BEHIND THE HEADLINE
A younger biomarker profile isn’t proof of a longer life.
Research reported May 12, 2026 · Small randomized trial · 4 weeks
In a trial of 104 adults aged 65–75, several diet changes improved a biological-age estimate based on 20 biomarkers. The clearest statistical signal came from the omnivorous, higher-carbohydrate group.
The important limit: the trial did not establish longer life or fewer diseases. It excluded people with conditions including type 2 diabetes and cancer, so the findings cannot simply be applied to everyone.
