The UN agency tasked with fighting AIDS on Tuesday welcomed the decision by the United States to allow the use of an HIV prevention pill for the first time.
The first-ever daily pill to help prevent HIV infection was approved Monday by US regulators for use by healthy adults who are at risk for getting the virus that causes AIDS.
British drugmaker GlaxoSmithKline on Monday clinched the takeover of US research partner Human Genome Sciences Inc. after increasing its bid to $3.0 billion (2.4 billion euros).
