BEHIND THE HEADLINE
A younger biomarker profile isn’t proof of a longer life.
Research reported May 12, 2026 · Small randomized trial · 4 weeks
In a trial of 104 adults aged 65–75, several diet changes improved a biological-age estimate based on 20 biomarkers. The clearest statistical signal came from the omnivorous, higher-carbohydrate group.
The important limit: the trial did not establish longer life or fewer diseases. It excluded people with conditions including type 2 diabetes and cancer, so the findings cannot simply be applied to everyone.

With perspective.
Health headlines move quickly. Research briefs should link to their sources, identify the kind of evidence, and explain what remains unknown.
Human trials, observational studies, and animal experiments answer different questions. Promising findings deserve attention—and careful interpretation.
