Redmayne says had transgender help for ‘The Danish Girl’

By Michael Roddy VENICE (Reuters) – Eddie Redmayne said transgender people helped him prepare for his portrayal of transsexual pioneer Lili Elbe in “The Danish Girl” that opened on Saturday at the Venice Film Festival, even if no transgender person got the main role. “Across the board the generosity of people was amazing,” Redmayne said at a press conference launching the film about Danish landscape painter Einar Wegener. Wegener was born male in 1882 but began living as a woman after his marriage and had the first of several sex reassignment operations in 1930.

Chipotle critic turns up heat with ‘Chubby Chipotle’ ad

The Center for Consumer Freedom&039;s full-page advertisement in Thursday&039;s New York Post depicts a smiling, shirtless, overweight young man flexing one arm and resting the other on his ample tummy. It urges consumers to find out more at ChubbyChipotle.com, a site that calls the company&039;s executives "fast food hypocrites" for claiming that Chipotle&039;s menu is GMO-free and for bending their own rules on "no antibiotics ever".

Pennsylvania judge rejects parents’ move to stop gender change surgery

A Pennsylvania judge on Wednesday rejected an effort by the parents of a 48-year-old transgender woman to block her gender reassignment surgery after they said she is incompetent. Christine Kitzler’s surgery had been scheduled to take place in New Hope, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, Sept. 1, but on Monday her parents filed an emergency petition in a Bucks County courthouse in suburban Philadelphia to stop the surgery. Kitzler, who lives in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, was in a pre-operative appointment when she received news the surgery was halted, her lawyer, Angela Giampolo, said.
