Appeals court throws out IRS rule on Obamacare subsidies

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit accepted one of the main legal challenges to the policy by conservatives opposed to an expansion of the federal government. The subsidies, in the form of tax credits, are available to people with annual incomes of up to 400 percent of the federal poverty level, or $94,200 for a family of four.

Wawona Packing recalls fruit over listeria concerns

Wawona Packing Co is recalling fresh Sweet 2 Eat brand peaches, plums, nectarines and pluots because of potential contamination by listeria contamination, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said. The Cutler, California, company is pulling about three dozen brand products of bulk and packaged fruit nationwide, the FDA said in a statement on Monday. Wawona shut down the implicated packing lines, retrofitted equipment, sanitized the plant and retested. Subsequent tests have been negative, the FDA said.

Five people suffering from chronic pain brought the complaint to a court in Cologne after Germany's Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM) refused them permission to grow the plant at home. While the plaintiffs all had permits to buy and consume cannabis for therapeutic purposes, they wanted to cultivate their own because they could not afford to purchase the drug and their health insurance did not cover it.
