Judges tell California to cut prisoner count by 10,000

Mild strain of bird flu contained on Arkansas poultry farm

By Theopolis Waters (Reuters) – A low-pathogenic strain of avian influenza was found on an Arkansas poultry farm, but was quickly contained and did not appear to be a threat to other poultry farms in the nation’s second largest chicken state, a state poultry official said. “We’re pretty certain this was isolated to just this one farm. USDA is there with us on hand as we work the next few weeks to make sure it’s contained,” said Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission director Preston Scroggin. …

Idenix sees delay in hep c drug human trials as FDA seeks more data

U.S. health insurers to pay $500 million in rebates this summer

(Reuters) – U.S. insurers will pay $500 million in rebates to employers and individuals this summer because of President Barack Obama’s healthcare law, about half the amount they paid last year. The law, often called Obamacare, requires companies to refund customers when they spend less than 80 percent of premiums they collect on medical care. The Department of Health and Human Services attributed the decline in rebates to insurers’ adhering more closely to this requirement and to lowering premium rates for their products. American Express names McKesson’s Campbell as CFO
