LONDON (Reuters) – Bolton Wanderers’ Fabrice Muamba has been able to recognize family members and respond to questions appropriately after suffering a cardiac arrest during an FA Cup quarter-final, the hospital said on Monday. WASHINGTON, March 20 Reuters) – The Supreme Court ruled on Tuesday that states cannot be sued for money damages for violating a key provision of a federal law that gives workers time off for a serious medical condition, a decision that could affect millions of state employees. The high court by a 5-4 vote ruled that lawsuits against states under the law were barred by state sovereign immunity, deciding a case about claims for money damages for violations of a provision of the 1993 Family and Medical Leave Act. …
Israel to phase out civilian atomic reactor by 2018
SOREQ, Israel (Reuters) – Israel is phasing out a civilian nuclear reactor to which it has admitted foreign inspectors while keeping a second reactor, widely believed to have produced atom bombs, off-limits, officials said on Tuesday. JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – A South African lawyer said on Tuesday he was preparing a class action lawsuit against leading gold mining firms on behalf of thousands of former miners who say they contracted silicosis, a debilitating lung disease, through negligent health and safety.
